Sygn Bar

We regularly go for drinks after work and it is always busy and good fun. We ended up having a party of 20 for dinner and drinks and James, our waiter, couldn't have been better! It should be mentioned that as a bar, it can get quite lively later in the evening so best to arrive pre-7pm if you want a more relaxed eating experience particularly at the weekend. As a result she offered us both another complimentary cocktail.

Thankfully, he pursued the friendship, and we got married. We did not say anything when we were there because I didn't want to creat a fuss on my Daughter's special Birthday day out. If I were rating on drinks alone, this'd be a definite two, but the place is so lovely and the food looked so good that it's a solid three, and it might even push to a four when I go back try that delicious looking food for myself.

SYG - My next drink then was a geisha martini - vodka, pomegranate and lychee. Their bartenders make awesome cocktails and serve a great range of beer, wine and premium spirits.

The kitchen team uses the best ingredients and sources as much as possible from local suppliers. Book a table today for dinner or drinks. Please be aware guest must be 18 or over. Sygn with the cauliflower burger which I've had several times before. At first it was grilled cauliflower florets but this time it was more like a cheese sauce wrapped in breadcrumbs, more of a patty. Noise level from other tables was so loud that I could hardly talk to my husband and be heard. Staff were great, really attentive and friendly even though we were rather annoying delaying ordering for late arrivals Flexible when more arrived than were booked. Aside from that, the food and drinks were delicious and the price was excellent for what we had. Our waiter Lewis was the only good part about our visit, he was rushed off his sygn but still managed to look after us well. Cocktails from the menu tasted similar. The portion sizes were very small and not good value at all. We bought quite a few so overall the amount of sygn was enough. I would therfore not recommend going there from that point of view. We did not say anything when we were there because I didn't want to creat a fuss on my Daughter's special Birthday day out. We all ordered burgers which came with skinny fries in a basket and no side salad so quite basic feeling. Though the burgers were tasty. Surroundings were basic, that said it is listed as a Retro Sygn. So it's not a bad place but sygn are far better locally. My friends visited and were disappointed generally. There was no draught beer. The bar was cold and despite commenting on it nothing was done. We had burgers, mine was barely warm. The place generally is quite unkempt and could do with a good clean and a refurbishment. We were there with a deal. If we had paid full price then I would have complained. Friendly staff accommodated our large booking no problem even though people arrived at various times. Most of the party finished off with alcoholic milkshakes - delicious. One of us did have a Pornstar Martini sygn and was a wee bit disappointed for the price of it, but overall very pleased with the food and service was fantastic. sygn The cocktails were very over priced for the amount you were given in glass. Service was very slow and not the friendliest. Heard good thing but perhaps due to how busy it was the food and service was not as good. Second time at Sygn and was expecting it to be as good if not better that the first. Forgot to give us the shot for the pornstar martini, food order was wrong, wrong flavour of cider was provided with no explanation and charged us for fries that were part of the meal deal. Service was poor, we had to wait around a lot before our food order could be taken and our bill was provided. Such a shame as we loved sygn ambience and the food was delicious. The halloumi starter was four sticks of Halloumi and cost £5. The burgers were also pretty smal - the buns in particular. I have been coming to sygn over the years and think your portions have shrunk. Was like walking into a rave, music booming and could hardly hear each other across table, asked twice to have music turned down and they eventually did it. Given the age of the clientele they had obviously not considered the customer. Service very poor, took 40 mins for food to arrive and had to ask twice for our bill. Friend was on lunch from work and late back. Basically only given 2 gluten sygn options, either a burger without the bun or steak salad. I suspect there was more but waitress disinterested. Friend had halloumi salad and halloumi was served cold. Cocktail was nice as was wine. There was not a working female toilet, all flooded and Manager did apologise and removed drinks from bill but suspect they should not have been open. Suggestion was we went to bar across the road. Staff member told us happens sygn the time but sygn her prob soon as she was leaving. We promptly moved to bar next door as soon as we could.

SYGN
It looks lovely, with that pink lit chic and black furniture going on with an immaculately decorated interior, which you can't really go wrong with. Second time at Sygn and was expecting it to be as good if not better that the first. Also probably a hot place to come for a date, apart from the fact it's in a really visible position on the route where people cut through to get across Charlotte Square from the west end, so the chances of someone peering in at you through the window are high. I had it with chili, onions, mustard. Besides, it means that you have wasted your time.
